Maui where locals go to eat? "Where the people of Maui to eat?"
It is a question every Maui vacationers like to ask and is an important issue. After lounging on the beach, dinner is often the most memorable vacation.
Over the past seven years I have observed vacationers (tourism is a dirty word for me) and I can not help but feel sorry for you guys, you have no idea what is good! There is nothing better than a delicious, well served, though expensive dinner. On the other side there is nothing worse than a sub-par, overpriced meals served poor.
The sad truth is that Maui has much more of it. "Tourist traps". Theses places survive because of lack of knowledge of new visitors. They pay big bucks for advertising, even pot concierge, nothing to put you in the door. Then they skimp on quality (both the wait staff and meals). I could write you a long list of names, but I was taught if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all. So lets focus more on large sites, places you've never heard of, but are crowded with people (people who really know)
It is important to note that I do not work for one of these establishments, which is really an objective opinion. Be sure to Google the directions that many of these places off the beaten track and are a little difficult to find.
Local Grinds $ 8 - $ 15 per plate
They are real gems, many healthy foods at prices very personal by friendly people.
Aloha Mixed Plate
1285 Front Street
Lahaina, HI 96761
(808) 661-3322
A little off the beaten track remains one of the best known on this list. Aloha Mixed Plate serves local specialties right next to the beach at Mala. The atmosphere is very relaxed, there are plenty of places for the whole family, torchlight beautiful sunsets of Maui and you do not need reservations.
Entire menu is good, but I still get a barbecue plate and mixed haupia (coconut dessert).
Fish Market
3600 Lower Honoapiilani Rd # H1
Lahaina, HI 96761
(808) 665-9895
What would make West Maui without the fish market? Despite what all the applications on the spot, that's where you'll find really fresh fish. They have all kinds of food and the menu (appetizers) great pupu - ceviche, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, oysters and poke. All charges. You can even buy ahi (tuna) steaks or lobsters live at home and grill.
The market is good food and you can either eat outside or in, but there are very few places, so I recommend you do is buy a bottle of wine or champagne, for a lot of food take out and enjoy a better meal at home that you get at any restaurant for about a fifth of the price.
Skewers Kahuna
126 Lahainaluna Rd
Lahaina, HI 96761
(808) 661-9999
Kahuna is a cool, casual outdoor restaurant in the middle of the city Lahania, you should probably pass it without even knowing it's there. Here you will find a great kebabs and salads. Everything is super fresh, tasty and healthy. All the locals who work in Lahaina like to eat here (we're all sick of the food at our own restaurants).
Location skewers can be a bit tricky. It is located in the alley just north of Maui Built store. It is a great place to eat if you're shopping in Lahaina and do not want to spend money or deal with a restaurant (you'll probably anyway better food!)
Restoration of $ 35 - $ 50 per plate
If you're going to spend much money on dinner, you should expect an amazing experience. That's exactly what these restaurants deliver. These are the local spots Maui go for birthdays, dates of heat and when the family is in town. <.
