How old do you have to stay in a Scottish hostel? im 16 but what age should I spend the night in a hostel in Aviemore or John o Groats in Scotland? thanks
YHA used 14 +, but they moved to 16 +.
The disadvantage of the AJ, is that you stay in the dormitories of the same sex. I went when I was 14 with a load of my friends, and although I fully understand why they separate the sexes, it was a bit irritating, they were just friends!
Most B & B or hotel, say 18 +
Some campsites say 16 + but do you really want to camp in Scotland? I did once and almost lost my nose to hypothermia.
I guess you `re all human age-wise, but check on their website. If they don `t have their own (" Scottish YHA "or" YHA Scotland ") and it` s bound to be a link on the main site of the AJ.
contact with them, in any event, it will probably be necessary. Depending on when you `re planning to stay, advance booking may be advisable or even mandatory - and this may be lack of staff (some hostels to close out season), just as easily as the lack of space .
Regardless, rest assured that you are likely to have a great time, if you haven `Hostelled before, just enjoy the experience if you keep in mind that some hostels in the United Kingdom has retained more original than their charm with modern comforts! In any case, enjoy.
