Plug Adapters: Most countries have different standards for electronics output, so you will need to make a number of different adapters. If you decide to bring a camera, iPod or laptop, you'll need to be able to connect to the outlets.

First Aid Kit: Bring one of these and include dressings, antiseptic or Polysporin and an elastic bandage for sprains. Whether you're in a city or in the desert, you need to be able to treat injuries quickly and with the right supplies. So be prepared.
