Can anything from anyone Barrie, Ontario? Whether you live there, he was on vacation or just know a little about it, I would be grateful if you could share what you know.
My husband and I are planning to move there. We are 20-somethings, both will be looking for a job full time, possibly starting a family. Want to rent at first, maybe buy a little later.
How is the job market? Is there a variety of jobs, including jobs in demand? How is the compensation?
Is it a nice place? How about crime and safety? Is this a good place to have a family? Would you say it is the city-like city-like or something else? How is the cost of living? What is the cost of renting / buying compare to other cities? Pollution is a problem?
What do for fun? The heart calms down after dark, or is there a nightlife? What can you do for fun? Is swimming at the beach option?
What is your overall impression?
Anything else I need to know?

Barrie is very close to being a suburb of Toronto these days. Nice place, more like a town to a city, but you have to go far from the city limits have the pleasant sensation Near North. Across Ontario has been hit by the recession, so the labor market is not what it was. It depends on what field you are in, I'd give a google on the paper of Barrie and kijiji, to see what kind of jobs are out there right now.
It is a relatively safe and clean city. low crime rate in a city of this population. A good place to raise a family. Cost of living is high midrange. Pollution is low, the further north you go ... (Keep in mind Barrie is not considered Northern Ontario). Smog is rarely a problem.
Lots to do for entertainment. No shortage of clubs, bars, restaurants. They also receive a lot of concerts. Nice place. I consider living there if it were not so far south.
How is the job market? Poor .... Is there a variety of jobs, including jobs in demand? Many factories have closed their doors. How is the compensation?
Is it a nice place? Yes, but too cold in winter for me. How about crime and safety? Better than many cities in Canada. Is this a good place to have a family? I suppose so. Would you say it is the city-like city-like or something else? I have visited. The place became award in the last 30 years. How is the cost of living? Houses would be cheaper than Toronto. I think everything else would be more expensive. What is the cost of renting / buying compare to other cities? Pollution is a problem?
