Posted on December 9, 2010.
How did this trip in the UK sound to you?

Well, here's my trip. We had by flying to London to Minneapolis. We have 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We would like to go in August

Day 1-5: London. Do not rent a car to use tube. See the main sites (London Eye, Buckingham Palace, etc.) stay at Park Inn Hyde Park. See also the play, Wicked.

Day 6 & 7: Go to Salisbury and see Stonehenge.Stay Swaynes Firs. Rent a car with Auto Europe.

Day 8 and 9: Drive to Cornwall. Rent a house near the cliffs of Land's End, Penzance area.

Day 10-13: Drive to the Cotswolds area. Spend two days exploring the Cotswolds. Then take one day at Warwick Castle, one day, then a day in Oxford. Rent a house.

Day 14 & 15: Take the long drive to Lake District and enjoy the natural beauty! Stay at the "Trees" Bed and Breakfast

Day 16: A long day of travel. Drive to the edge of Scotland to take the ferry to Belfast. Then take a train to Dublin. Conk at the Holiday Inn Express.

Day 17: Explore the natural sites in Dublin. Take off Grafton Street, past Trinity College, Dublin Castle and go to Chester Beatty, and see the Cathedral of St. Patrick

Day 18-21: Facing West Ireland. Take time to enjoy the natural beauty, see the cliffs of Moher and the Burren, and so on Day 21 Fly from Shannon Airport.

So how does this sound to you? Recommendations? Commands that you think would be great to see, places you loved to eat less, beautiful landscapes?

* (If you ask about our 3 young girls all love this architecture, museum, landscape stuff.)

Sounds like a great trip.

If you do not want as a long section of pipe between the Cotswolds and the Lake District could be an alternative destination area snowden Wales. It is very beautiful and it is on the way to the Lake District.

I recommend getting an Oyster card for public transport in London. It is a prepaid card and is much cheaper than buying individual tickets.

Why are you skipping over Belfast? There is much to see and do (think murals, CS Lewis, Titanic), without forgetting that it's a heck of a lot cheaper than Dublin.

Yes, I agree, it looks like a great trip.

I consider doing rather than Avebury and Bath Cornwall, but it is a purely personal point of view. Salisbury Lands End is a long way to go for a couple of days there.

If you go to Cornwall, it would probably be best to avoid traveling either on a Saturday - most holiday lets run from Saturday to Saturday, so traffic is terrible, especially in August.

In Salisbury itself, the cathedral is obviously worth seeing. You do not need to pay to get into see the Magna Carta, which is one of the buildings in the Cathedral.

Other than that, in Salisbury, I have a quick drink in the Haunch of venison - the scenery, history (I think Churchill is supposed to have been drinking it with Eisenhower) and beer! Also Doom painting in St Thomas Church, the entrance to the cinema (it is really old), and perhaps the museum and / or Old Sarum.

I think you should be able to contact me through Yahoo if you want more details on Salisbury, or you can contact me by leaving a comment on my website below.

Have a great time anyway!

Matt
