Camping Christmas List? I ask for my own camping gear for Christmas this year (I used to borrow my parents) I have used their air mattresses and beige Coleman is shit (have to plump up every night. ..) I'm looking for a new air mattress and a good sleeping bag. Suggestions? Or products and companies I should stay away from?
If you want a big fattie mattress, I think one is probably just as good as another. If you want a backpack, get a Thermarest, no contest. They have many different ones, I think, even for women only, but also of different sizes and a friendly ride. You can obtain a self-inflating or closed cell foam (peak remains compact, Z is? Something like that it looks like a yoga mat, and it has traction and accordion pleats instead of rolling. )
Sleeping bag info:
I have a bag Sierra Designs Flex Series and I love it! They are lightly padded with elastic thread around the circumference of the bag, so they're stretch jeans stretch ... etc.. They kind of kiss you, but they are still much spacious. So nice to sleep later!
Synthetic fill is always my recommendation is declining because so touchy. There will be many different trade names, but everything is made of polyester. Essentially, these various types of quilt batting. Down is more expensive than comparable synthetic fabrics, they need dry cleaning, and if you are wet on the ground, you will not necessarily ruin, but it is useless until you dry it which means you could be dangerously cold. However, down is lighter and more compressible.
I would not worry so much about weight or completed if you motorhome. Just get as hot as you need for your budget. Regarding brands, I'm sure Coleman or anything that is good. SD is my bag of my days backpacking and is always very helpful. If you found a bag of hiking true ... you get what you pay but there are some bargains out there. Try the High Peak line gear. They make EXCELLENT bags, and they are little known, but still reasonable. I also had two different packets of that mark and was in incredible condition, even after pressing it with the car. hahah!

I can tell you that manufactures Slumberjack bags at the end relatively low for the money and my experience of their zippers do not work very well. But they are cheap, offer a lot of temporary and styles, and they seem to work so hot you can keep them zipped.
Re temp note, if you year around the camp, you'll really benefit from having at least two bags. One just can not be the end all be all for all climates. Get a summer one, even if it is just a bag or a hostel or a silk lining, fleece bag, then a 0 deg, 20 ° or 30 °. Use them both independently in their season, and both winter. If you do this, you must ensure they have the same shape (rectangular vs. mummy) and make sure the zippers are on the same side. Late night trips will pee a lot easier that way. In addition, I have a cheapo $ 10 to cover, I used a million ways with my other gear. You can throw into the mix to help you stay warm. There are a wide shoulder, butt or foot-specific assistance and a pillow. It is also snuggly around the campsite, and I even paired with my rain jacket to work as a down parka! I do not mind having this piece down because I was not totally based on this to keep me safe, comfortable. And it was cheap, only weighed a few grams, and enter into a ziplock bag gallon. So ... easy to stuff in a pack.
They also make camping bags which are great for adding extra warmth to a sleeping bag, and they can protect your bag from getting wet. That's fine if you go without shelter on a clear night, so your bag does not CoV.
