A TripAdvisor a„c TripWow slideshow of a travel blog Lautoka, Ba, Raki Raki and Nananu-I-Ra, Fiji Emzeeb3 TravelPod blogger called "Midlife Crisis on Nanau-I-Ra"

Emzeeb3 travel blog entry:

"After our experience of the brain rather tumultuous and kill the South Sea Island and the desire to Taki, we decided it might be best to avoid anything that can cause fever and rash in the cabin more tempers flaring and jumped on the local bus to head Raki Raki north of the island and specifically at Ellington Harbour where we would be able to take the local ferry across Nananu-I-Ra, a recommendation one of the guys from South Sea Island as a place with really cool cheap.

The bus ride (which in total cost us about £ 4 each for a five hours trip) was fine if a little uncomfortable at times. We took the bus very local as opposed to the express which stops at all (and I mean all) village along the way and at any random place where someone can decide they want to get off / on. It seemed to offer entertainment for a number of local children along the way who were fascinated by us, or rather by our white skin and a digital camera, but the Fijian people using the bus are nothing but friendly and a little curious. The Indian-Fijians, but did not offer the same character and welcoming we felt that nothing but a commodity and as soon as we got off the bus they tried to bring us into their taxi. There is a clear separation between the two cultures, and although the Indians were never rude or invasive (a little arrogant sometimes) I felt more comfortable with the Fijians. It seems, though this is a little pretentious, as along the west coast, there is a higher percentage of Indians and they seem to run all companies and all market stalls (and therefore all the money). Whatever the case, I'll probably never know. Every city we've reached seemed to be nearly the same (Ba, Lautoka and Raki Raki) towns just repair the small villages around them, even if we do not really get off the bus a lot. We did take some Indian snacks, off a market stall, but outside of the donut like thing I had done their candy seems to taste as they are made from curdled milk and did not have much to fulfill my desire for chocolate.

After traveling five hours by bus we finally arrived in Raki Raki after escaping from local taxi drivers who pounced on us as we left the bus we found a supermarket so I could buy shampoo ( my travel bottle exploded in my bag! Beware of plastic bottles travel they crack and leak everywhere) I had intended to buy food, but Manu has not left me and after have been rushed out of the supermarket we found the police station to ask directions to Ellington Harbour. It was as if we had asked for a bag of gold when we asked for directions, it seemed to cause more confusion to the police, obviously this is not the thing is to ask for help in a police station in Fiji, after long deliberations between the staff, they decided that our best course of action would be to take a taxi (I think there is some sort of conspiracy with the taxi drivers and white) to the port at a cost of F $ 10 was more than it had cost us for the trip by bus to all Raki Raki, but with no other option and the threat from the pilot that the last ferry at 17 hours (which was at 16:45) we do not have much choice.
