Moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, Ontario? Hello, I am a 24 year old male who currently lives in Ontario, Canada.
I have cerebral palsy and I am on disability. I live in a small town, uninspired, boring, unemployed and pressing where I lived for about 5 years. I want to go! EVIL !!!!!!!!
I am preparing to take my GED exam in a few months here.
When I have my papers GED, I want to go to British Columbia may be in the first half of 2010.
I heard good things about British Columbia in terms of climate, people, play activities, and employment opportunities and I would go there and make a clean sweep of my life.
My goals are to go to school there and build a life for me. Put yourself in a career in medicine. While I'm here, I want to make new friends and settle. Maybe even open a small business.
The city I live now is not populated by friendly people, warm and endearing. Quite the contrary! When I moved here from another part of Ontario, I soon noticed that people here are pretty harsh, tight lipped, narrow-minded and clumsy anti-social. I visited here in the early 90s and between then and now, it's all the same. Except for the fact that there are faster computers and a new stadium. I mean, people are the same. There is very little to do here for fun too. Sorry to be negative, but that's about how it is. I have read and heard very similar opinions on this town over the years.
At the same time, I need some advice on long distance moving. I really do not know how to travel long distances alone! The plan is to travel with the Greyhound bus. Maybe a family member on some of my own things I can not really take away. Non-essential items such as books, stereo, game console, computer backup, etc..
And return later on the bus to pick up gradually or have it sent to me.
As a student, I can use my ID card and travel in British Columbia by one-way with all the bits of $ 100.
It's good to me. Not a big problem.
The problem is:
1. How do I search and find an apartment in British Columbia all the way from here!?
2. Where (what city) can I find a one bedroom apartment for about $ 550 per month?
If "push comes to shove," I would be willing to share a large two-bedroom apartment with a roommate, taking the second room to help pay the bills.
3. I currently have on my hands, an apartment is fully furnished! Here in Ontario! Unfortunately, I know I can only take a small portion of my property I have spent years accumulating. But I have to deal with this apartment and I can not take them all with me. I'm planning my future, I must bite the bullet and say goodbye to a lot of my furnature.
I can not leave my bed, a sofa table and all the rest of my landlord to clean / remove. This is not the act of a good tenant! I'm not a deadbeat tenant.
4. I have a 5 1 / 2 year old pet cat, whom I love so much. Greyhound not allow animals on board. And leaving her behind is not an option, not to mention the cruel and unusual little creature. What shall I do? I'm on disability right now and I'm limited money wise.
5. When I arrived, I will quickly go to a thrift store and buy the following things for my apartment.
Each common elements are particularly inexpensive:
-Rooms
kitchen table with chairs
Dresser-
Couch & Chair-
-Coffee table
Desk and chair-
Lamps
-Library
Dishwasher, bowls, glasses, cups and
-Pots & Pans
-Forks and knives
Toaster oven-
-Tea and Coffee
-Phone
TV and small table
-Shower Curtain
Thank you for any help you could give me in planning my move in British Columbia!
I appreciate all the advice I can get.
Karen L gave you.
