Val d'Isere is a town of the department in the Tarentaise Savoie Rhone-Alps region in south-eastern France. It is 5 km (3 miles) from the border with Italy. It is on the border of the Vanoise National Park created in 1963. Face Bellevarde has been the scene of the men's downhill race in the Winter Olympics of 1992. Val d'Isere has hosted the World Championships FIS Alpine Skiing 2009.
