Hotel Whitcomb San Francisco

Posted on January 31, 2011.
Visit San Francisco. Does my hotel in a safe place?

I have not yet booked, but was considering two hotels:
Whitcomb Hotel and Hotel King George.

I wanted to know if the area would be safe if I and my friend were returning on the transit of 23 hours or overnight.
We also want to be near a BART station so we can go to the airport with our luggage.
And also, I believe only one hotel has air conditioning.
We are going in the last week of August.
Is San Francisco really am, unbearable heat?

Tips etc that you may have, please share!
Thank you!

The Whitcomb is right next to Bart, but the neighborhood can be gritty. The Civic Center area has more homeless than Union Square and can be intimidating for those non-urban.

King George is in a location permitted, but the chancellor will be the best option because it is right on Powell Street. Both hotels are located very close to BART only 4 or 5 block walk.

SF is naturally air-conditioning and heat waves years, we have in August will not last a day or two. It will really depend on what kind of weather you are used and what kind of weather we have while you're here. If the price of the hotel is like going to the hotel with AC if you really hate being hot.

The Chancellor is the best, King George OK, Whitcomb was not sure that all are 2 to 3 blocks from BART, 20C (70F) in August

Hotel Whitecomb
I thought the rooms were ok, basic and comfortable. The bathrooms need a job intestinal total renovation. They are horrible.
The hotel service is good. Check in and check out great.
We got a great special so he did a good place to stay.
Great central location.
But if you must pay 150 plus a night I would look for another somewhtere.

King George Hotel
Location, location, location - King George is ideally located and within walking distance of major shopping centers and bus lines (not to mention a couple of Starbucks!). We had the "breakfast special" rate that includes "free" continental breakfast or get a credit of $ 8.99 for breakfast of your choice at Cafe Max. One might think that $ 8.99 would cover a Much of Bill breakfast, but the balance still stood at over $ 20. There were an additional 5% of "benefits" of charge (and receive only?). The " freshly squeezed "orange juice smelled and tasted like it came from a carton of Tropicana. The next morning we ate at Cafe Mason, located right next door to King George. Breakfast came to 30 $ but there was foam on orange juice from just after being pressed into the pulp cooking and sitting near the bottom. The food was served with fresh fruit and overall quality of the food was much better than Max. It would be advantageous for the King George to establish a relationship with this coffee. It is conveniently located (it must cross the street to go to Max) and open 24 hours (Max opens at 7 am for breakfast). You did not get much sleep while staying at King George (Friday night seems much noisier than a Saturday) for a good breakfast with substantive amounts of coffee a wait staff attentive is so appreciated.

Chancelloer Hotel
The room was very quiet, clean, comfortable and warm! It came with an alarm clock, color television, a personal safe, iron and ironing board, ceiling fan, umbrella, hair dryer and a phone that gave me unlimited use for phone calls premises (which was very helpful when I needed to investigate diverse attractions). Additional amenities include bath salts and a rubber duck very cute. An ice bucket was also provided. The ice machine was located outside the elevator
