About Golf
The 2009 U.S. Open will be held at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York. The park has five golf courses that are not world class, but also the public. The Open takes place on the black course, an extremely difficult course which hosted the Open and other tournaments before.
In addition to golf, you can also enjoy hiking, biking, hiking and tennis at Bethpage.
Places to Stay in Farmingdale, NY
Farmingdale is a town and community. However, thanks to the popularity of golf courses and the call of Bethpage State Park, there are a number of hotels within 10 to 50 miles from the station.
Courtyard Airport Long Island Republic
This is the closest hotel to the golf course and books quickly, so book now if you want to be close to the action. The hotel is fully equipped and has a restaurant on site. It also operates a shuttle all day to and from the U.S. Open. Again, if you want to stay here, you must book a room as soon as possible.
Hilton Long Island
This beautifully appointed Hilton is located in Melville, a short drive from the Black Course. The hotel is a full service and offers a number of amenities, but it is mainly targeted at conferences and business travelers. Expect a lot of conference space, wireless, and many meeting rooms.
FourPoints Sheraton Plainview
Just a 20-25 minute car journey from black and Farmingdale, Sheraton Four Points is a new hotel in Plainview, New Jersey. The style is similar to a Holiday Inn Express and designed for the traveler on the go. There is a fitness center on site, free parking and shuttle buses during the Open golf.
Fun Stuff to Farmingdale
There is more to do in Farmingdale to see the U.S. Open. If you have a few more days, try to check the American Airpower Museum, take the road in the Hamptons or visit Adventureland. Adventureland is a family theme park that features 30 rides and attractions that are great for children.
Travel to Farmingdale
Unless you're flying by private jet, the nearest airport in Farmingdale is La Guardia. The drive takes about 40 minutes, but can be as long as 70 to 80 minutes in bad traffic. Limit your time in traffic trying to get a flight that lands earlier in the day.
Listing tickets for the 2009 U.S. Open
If you plan to attend the U.S. Open golf tournament, you must first apply for a draw. The registration deadline has passed. If you do not have a ticket, you may be able to buy at the door or get them by a third party vendor.
