Scolson travel blog entry:
"Hi all ... Friday aftenoon start here ... A beautiful day yesterday was spent in the streets of Dublin (getting lost once) ... Rain again, only a few showers ...
Highlight of the day included a visit to the Guinness Brewery and Storehouse .... Who would have thought that the brewing of beer could be so interesting?
Grand tour of the brewery which claims a place called the Gravity Bar, where a pint free part of the admission paid ... The bar overlooks the entire city, quite a sight .... but I was so in love with Guinness, I forgot to take pictures ...
At the foot of Guinness back to my hotel, quite a hike, but it is a city on foot and did not even know how far you traveled until you sit ... Arrested in Christ Church Cathedral on the way home ... very beautiful chuch history dating from the 12th century ...
After a rest at the hotel and a light dinner was out near the O2 Arena to see Leonard Cohen. The arena is one of those massive train stations of Europe into a state of the art performance center. Capacity is around 18,000 seats, but not bad everywhere, a great atmosphere and sound perfect pitch. Cohen was fantastic. Never a big fan, but now a convert. The last of the sold-out concerts in Dublin 4 (most of the dates of a place on any tour), he has a special relationship with Ireland has been very clear last night. Nearly three hours of show that was perfectly to the rhythm of a backup tape and Cohen amazing public scrutiny and mood for each second of the show.
After the concert led to Mr Maquire pub to meet some other Zootops (group U2 fan) for a nightcap .. Fans from around the world to the table last night ... Victoria (me) ... Atlanta. .. Belfast ... Slovakia ... New Jersey .... Book this morning estimates up to 12,000 fans ouside of Ireland are here ... Gathering was fun and a lot of stories together to make the tour ... The bartender yelled "Did you not have houses (really!) And the night was over .... As I returned to the hotel has faced a number of fans who were heading down in Croke Park for the GA (admission genearl) online overnight .. To me he was in bed sleeping, perhaps dreaming ....
Today, a few hours and it really is time together .... moments goosebumps started while I type this they have obviously just started a sound-check at Croke Park that I can hear at the hotel (2km) ... . They just finished playing the streets .... I can not believe I stayed on the balcony of my hotel in Dublin and U2 could play here 'Streets With No Name "resounds across the city .... Vey surreal ... . and earlier, they repeat a great day ... Holy ****!
Gotta go ... The piper calls .... time to take my shoes .. march on Croke and claw and "go crazy tonight "....
As I sign sign Angel of Harlem Bono and his U2 is drifting thorugh the air Dublin.
