Lightweight Sleeping Bags

Posted on January 1, 2011.
Who makes a good lightweight sleeping bag?

I'm going to hike a little more and I was wondering what makes a good lightweight sleeping bag which is about a rating of +15 degrees. It must be compact as well. I will use it for 4-5 days hiking around 6000-9000 meters.

Marmot, they do a very good sleeping bag, I use the zero degree. I slept in 15 degrees Celsius and I never zipped it. I use it as a blanket. They are a bit expensive, zero degrees will take place between 3 and 4 hundred dollars. I made the same bag now for about 10 years is about 300 nights in the backcountry. Their synthetic bags are good too, just heavier and bulky. One of my friends bought a, 0 degrees down last year just before we came out of a lake to 9200 feet in mid-October. He says he will never make another type of bag.

For camping at high altitude, I would say the degree zero instead of a bag of 15 degrees. In the mountains of the Sierra Nevada in California, it is not uncommon for temporary overnight. falling into the 20s at 9000 feet above or even in August.

This council has over 35 years of hiking experience, more than 1000 nights in the backcountry.

rei
