Fun in Margate - Kent

Just over 60 km north-east of Maidstone, on the east coast of Kent in England, you will find the historic town of Margate - Kent. The history of this picturesque town has always been inextricably linked to the sea during the historic alliance of the Cinque Ports, he acted as a "member" of the city of Dover.

Margate has many entertainment options, all of which were originally created as a spot for Londoners to come and play. The many amenities you find in the city includes two theaters, a number of cinemas, a golf course, opportunities to go fishing and of course beautiful beaches.

The city has two very good museums. In the old town hall building, you will find the Margate Museum (near the Old Market Square) where you can see a lot of pieces illustrating the history of the city. Museum in the power of cotton in an area near Quex Park, there are a large number of displayed items that were collected during the trips to Africa and Asia by the intrepid explorer.

The old Dreamland Amusement Park on the houses of the old roller coasters across the United Kingdom. At the time of this writing, it was closed for renovations, but now it should be reopened.

The Scenic Railway is the second oldest of its kind in the world. The plans are on how to integrate this with Dreamland mentioned in the preceding paragraph. How long this will occur is not known, since the last fire event of significant damage to the structure in 2008.

Another popular attraction incredible and near Margate Shell Grotto is called. It covers an area of more than 200 square meters with the roof and walls are covered with shells arranged in intricate patterns. Rediscovered in 1935, nobody really knows who originally created or why.

In the area of Old Town on the back of the walk, you will find a beautiful 16th century-old wood two-story framed Tudor house that was originally built on a flint. It is in a very good condition and well worth a visit.

If you walk along the promenade, you will eventually reach around the beautiful old clock built in 1897 in honor of Queen Victoria. Another landmark not far from here is the construction of the port. Built in 1810 by John Rennie, it has an imposing facade and is well worth a picture or two. Some of the other buildings along the walk is quite poor, although there are still some fine examples of Victorian seaside resort buildings to be seen.

The quite fascinating old town is located at the rear of the walk and not much visited by many hikers, it actually has much to offer. There are well preserved examples of Georgian buildings and Victorian, some of them nearly 500 years. It is a beautiful place to just stroll around a couple of hours.

With regard to housing is concerned, Margate has a fairly wide variety of establishments decent considering its size. There are small inns and family breakdown and breakfasts for those who want a personal experience. And for those who want more facilities there are a number of hotels two and three, some housed in old historic buildings.
