Sleeping Pad

What is the best lightweight mats to use for a week 2 hiking trip?

Philmont Scout Ranch I'm going this summer for a backpack trip and I need to buy a carpet, new. What is a floor mat, cheap and light that is compact should I use?

Z-Lite is the carpet, the most commonly used to Philmont. It is better than nothing, but this is not the most comfortable of the most compact. Z-Lite works for Philmont.

Thermarest Z-Lite regular closed-cell mattress
$ 34.95
The Therm-A-Rest Z-Lite pad is the most compact closed-cell. The ideal choice for chronic ounce counters engaging in virtually any activity.
Compact: Accordion-style design is flat and small packages.
Ultra-light: light enough to wear on almost any adventure.
Hot: egg-carton pattern enhances warmth and softness.
Weight: 14 oz
Size: 20 "x 72"
Rolled Size: 20 "x 5.5" x 5 "
R-Value: 2.2
Thickness: 0.75 in.

Lightweight, compact and inexpensive? It is almost impossible to get all three. I used the Z-Lite is the first time I went to Philmont. It is lightweight and inexpensive, but it is not compact. It is about 5 x 5 x 20 inches. The last time I went, I used a Big Agnes Air Core. It is a little over a pound and the size of a liter bottle of water. It is a mine cheap ($ 50 at REI), but I've had for 5 years of heavy use and have had no problems. One of my son had to get his replaced under warranty and they replaced quickly and without hassle.

Have a great time at Philmont.
