my group and I are doing research work on the theme chosen by our teacher. He gave us the Spanish Inquisition. only problem is that we have a point. he says we can not list the history and everything else. any ideas?

A very interesting subject, it would be the fate of Spanish Jews. Many were forced to convert, and many others were expelled. This topic would make a great newspaper.

What is written on if the stories heard of the Inquisition are true or whether they were actually started by scare stories in the English Protestants.
There is much evidence to suggest they were not nearly as bad as they were supposed to be.
In fact in Spain during this period people actually preferred to be detained in a prison of the Inquisition par because they knew they would be treated better.
There are many stories of criminals being brought before a judge in Spain and deliberately blaspheming in court because they knew they would be sent to the Inquisition for heresy instead of a normal prison for any crime they have committed in the first place.

That does not sound like something people would do if they knew they would be tortured and burned, so maybe everything is just a myth? or at least a bit inflated?

I'd be very cautious and choose my source material closely. Historians are never comfortable with historical mythology. In this vein, you should understand that coming through the truth will be impossible to determine. Remember: A myth is the truth told by someone who was not there ..
There are serious problems of language here also:

Lowercase: Inquisition-The function of an institution whose research or defining the outlines.

Uppercase Inquisition refers to a "specific" institutions such as: The Venetian Inquisition.

The term: "The Inquisition" refers to a legendary myth, or an image.

Try to take into account differences in which the word "inquisition" is used.

I doubt that the professor who gave you this mission has the language skills to understand who knows you might fool them.
